Pi Sigma is off to a running start this semester with COB events underway. They are hoping to recruit 12 members for the spring semester. Bid Day and Pinning Ceremony are scheduled for Saturday, February 6th and Initiation is scheduled for Saturday, April 9th.

The chapter was ranked #1 in chapter GPA for the entire Fraternity and Sorority community with a 2.5 GPA. 5 members achieved a 4.0 for the fall semester and many members achieved higher than 3.5 for a cumulative GPA. They are very proud of this accomplishment and are confident it will benefit them in recruitment efforts.

They have lots of opportunities this spring for alumnae to interact with the chapter members. First, a DZ Career Night event is planned for the evening of Friday, March 4th, where alumnae are encouraged to network and mentor active members on career fields in which they have experience. Alumnae will be also requested to speak about how Delta Zeta prepared them for careers. Members of the community will attend to take professional headshots for the members, discuss beauty and health tips, and critique and provide feedback on resumes.

Our spring philanthropy event is sure to be a winner! Expanding upon last spring’s Wing Fling event, this year’s event will be called the DZ Boot Scootin’ BarBQ and will be held on Saturday, April 2nd. The new name allows for more variety in foods. The new event will feature more community involvement and revenue streams for fundraising efforts. Students and community members are encouraged to attend for $10 and sample food items from 5 participant booths of their choice. Local businesses and student organizations are encouraged to host food booths which will provide sample-size food portions to guests of a food they have prepared. People’s Choice Award will be given to the food booth who get the highest number of food tickets from guests. The Judges Choice Award will be given for the best food overall booths chosen by representatives of the DZ chapter. This event will also feature activities such as a Two-Steppin’ Contest, music, and a Corn Hole competition. Sponsorships are available for any businesses or individuals who would like to receive various advertising opportunities by supporting the event. Lastly, we have an exciting new event planned which combines philanthropy, alumnae relations and parent relations with chapter members. The last week of April is “Learn to Listen” week so Pi Sigma has Sunday, April 24th, reserved for our “Hike for Hearing” event. Local alumnae are invited to join us for a short nature walk followed by a pot luck picnic lunch with chapter members and their parents. Alumnae members will be able to network with active members’ parents to talk about how Delta Zeta has helped them professionally and personally. Guest speakers will address the group on topics of philanthropy and service, academics and leadership. The event will close with a celebration of the graduating seniors of Pi Sigma.
